Target Audience
Practicing academic and community pathologists, and pathologists-in-training

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this educational activity, learners will be able to:

  • Recognize mimics, variants and pitfalls in prostate pathology; distinguish primary from secondary cancers; understand utility and pitfalls of immunohistochemical stains; know the importance of recent changes in Gleason grading
  • Improve performance and reduce diagnostic errors in the analysis of problematic non-invasive breast lesions, incorporating strategies that combine morphology, ancillary studies and informed analytic approaches
  • Recognize the predominant cytologic patterns exhibited by commonly encountered soft tissue tumors; formulate differential diagnoses; understand the clinical context of histologic findings; integrate ancillary tests and understand their strengths and limitations
  • Provide a combined approach to contemporary thyroid diagnosis utilizing cytomorphology, histologic architecture and molecular studies

The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology designates this enduring material for a maximum of 21  AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The USCAP is approved by the American Board of Pathology (ABP) to offer Self-Assessment credits (SAMs) for the purpose of meeting the ABP requirements for Maintenance of Certification (MOC). Registrants must take and pass the post-test in order to claim SAMs credit.

Physicians can earn a maximum of 21 SAM credit hours.
